Introduction to Poi flow as Active Meditation

Class Description

Poi have been used as a form of holistic health for generations in the Māori Tribe of New Zealand. Used to keep the body strong and coordinated for warriors and joints flexible and strong for weavers. Poi has been used in the most recent years in circus and performance arts, but the holistic benefits from come from the active meditation or (flow state) that can be achieved when spinning poi . THIS is what we are focusing on in this class. We will be exploring poi technique and learning how to not get caught up in the performance side of things and open ourselves up to start entering flow states! This class is for all poi levels but is encouraged for beginners, Please try to bring a pair of long socks to make a pair of poi or bring poi of your own, there will be limited sets to borrow available. Dakota Gonzalez LMT of Centered Flow Therapeutics has over 15 years of poi spinning experience, and looks forward to sharing this offering to all who are curious of the holistic benefits of the flow arts! .
