About the event

Multimodal Meditation is an integrative blend of three meditative processes: guided visualization, artmaking, and expressive writing. Weaving these three processes together invites a unique deepening of the meditative experience. As we activate the combined power of imagery, creativity, imagination, and insight, participants will be invited to explore their internal landscapes in a supported, small group environment. By taking a multimodal approach (i.e. an approach that utilizes multiple modes of being, learning, and making), it becomes possible to forge new, adaptive neural networks and harness each individual’s abundant capacity for self-expression.

We will begin with a group check in followed by some gentle movement to warm up (options for all levels of mobility will be offered). We will then transition into a guided visualization. Next, participants will be invited to create artwork in response to the images, sensations, thoughts, and emotions accessed during the visualization. We will then close with an expressive writing exercise and group check out circle. Prompts will be offered to help guide the artmaking and writing if desired (although folx are also welcome to keep their making processes self-directed and freeform).

ALL ARE WELCOME AND NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH MEDITATION, GUIDED VISUALIZATION, ARTMAKING, OR EXPRESSIVE WRITING IS REQUIRED.

The CONNECT group space is wheelchair accessible.  Let us know if you have any particular accessibility concerns.

Art materials, yoga mats, bolsters, blankets, and chairs will be available at the studio (but please feel free to bring your own if you’d prefer). Please make sure to wear clothing you can move easily in and bring a notebook, water bottle, and anything else that will help you feel comfortable.

Feel free to reach out to Kyle (kyle@tiny-postcards.com) with any additional questions.
