About the event
Are you a super creative type who generates lots of art, chicken scratch notes, unfinished projects, digital files or other types of creative "detritus?" This free 3-hour guided process and ceremony will support you to connect with the energies and dreams from your past projects, and make embodied discernments as to whether each item or project needs to be kept and continued, emotionally processed and healed through, recycled and released, destroyed/burned/transformed, gifted or given away or otherwise moved on to its next life.
In the Holistic Creative Coaching methodology, we embrace that we all go through creative cycles each year, each season of life, and that each project has its own lifespan and purpose, even if that purpose was for practice, or to learn a lesson. Each year in the late winter, we embrace that in the norther hemisphere, the warming and cooling processes of the earth help the detritus that has deeply frozen throughout the winter to complete it's decomposition into its finer nutrients to be utilized by tender sprouting seeds to flourish in the spring.
We will be supported with an opening talk by local vermicomposting expert, Ro Kicker of Ro's Wigglers, who will bestow the wisdom of worms who are masters at breaking down discarded material into its finer stuff.
Then, Liberty Gonzalez of Awakening Creatives, resident coach and former professional organizer for creatives, will guide us through a process to center ourselves in self-acceptance and create a shame-free zone where we can look at our creations, love ourselves for our beautiful attempts at embodying our inspiration, and discern what needs to happen next. At the end, we will ceremonially feed some pieces to the worms in CONNECT's worm bin, and take some items outside to burn, weather depending.
In addition to preparing us with valuable skills for self-acceptance and creative discernment and providing a space to joyfully connect in community, this event will provide a short info session at the end for anyone interested in the Rooted Vision ReTreet, which will be taking place in the space the following weekend, February 17th and 18th as well as the Rooted Vision Cultivator, a 6 week coaching cohort to support you blooming brilliantly in your values-driven work.
All creative mediums are welcome to the Creative Composting Ceremony, whether you are a visual artist, digital creator, writer, scholar, researcher, multimedia creator, fiber artist, or visionary community builder (yes, we acknowledge scholarship, research and community building very much to be creative mediums!). If you have generated lots of evidence of your efforts. All levels of experience are welcome.
Bring your bags, piles and stacks of creative works that you want to sort. As this is a HYBRID event, you may also join from your studio, office or home, if that feels more appropriate for the ceremony.
This is a FREE event with all contributions going directly to support keeping the doors open and lights on at CONNECT.
